A Stroke of Luck: My Journey as a Wildcard Artist at Landscape Artist of the Year 2024
I'm excited to share a memorable experience with you – being chosen as a wildcard artist for Landscape Artist of the Year at Liverpool Docks. This journey was made even more special as my parents were visiting me in the UK. Together with my husband, we set off for Liverpool, eager for a day filled with creativity and bonding.

Before the competition day, I knew exactly where to find the spot designated for the wildcard artists. As we explored Liverpool, we made a deliberate stop at the docks, where I intended to capture the essence of this iconic location in my artwork. Little did we know that this spot would hold even greater significance later on.
On the day of the competition, the sun was blazing, presenting a challenge for me due to my sensitivity to sunlight. Despite this, I was determined to give it my all. As the camera crew approached, my nerves kicked in, but I focused on the task at hand and dived into the creative process.
Throughout the day, I poured my heart and soul into my painting, buoyed by the support of my family. Despite not winning the wildcard spot, I felt proud to have participated alongside such talented artists. Congratulations to Sue, the deserving winner whose artistry truly shone.
After the competition, we retreated to our nearby accommodation, basking in the warmth of shared experiences and the love of family. As we bid farewell to Liverpool the next day, I felt grateful for the memories created in this vibrant city.
